Final Report

 November 24th, 2022

It’s hard to believe that our team has left RG and are now enjoying Thanksgiving with family and friends.  We really missed Gary Smedley who was to be part of the team but now that we are all home, I want to not only thank Matt Aungst, John Bennetch and Trey Harper but also thanks to their wives and families who were holding down the home front.

Gary would have kept up with the Blog as he does so well, but he offered to post what we sent him to close out the RG blog.  Thanks Gary.

The promised arrival of the 100kva transformer never did materialize but we left it in God’s hands and are certain there was a reason it didn’t show up, unknown to our team

Our team of four was small, but we divided up into three area’s of responsibility and were able to get almost everything done on our individual list.

John Bennetch spent the majority of his week working on the old, well used, 80 kw generator that would be taking the place of the large 250kw unit. This would provide enough power for their current loads and require MUCH less fuel. It required a LOT of repair and tweaking but, as always, John was up for the challenge.  We said often, the right man for the job!!

I wish I could explain the magnitude of technical work that Matt Aungst was responsible to complete but the truth is, I can’t.  I know there were hundreds of feet of signal wire, multiple relays, timers, 400amp breakers, contactors and voltage sensing devices that were positioned very precisely in cabinets and the various pieces of switchgear.  Again, God had the right man for the job.

Trey Harper and I focused primarily on being ready for the utility connection, just in case they actually arrived. We feel confident that they can come at any time, and the point of connection will be ready.

When that was finished, we did a survey of the underground distribution system we installed back in 2017. Overall, it was functioning well but we were surprised by one pedestal that was taken over by termites.  It was so full of termite dirt that we actually had to replace the entire unit along with the distribution panel.

It was great working with Trey Harper again. Trey was part of the install team back in 2017 and just like back then, he was able to preach at one of the daily devotion times with the RG staff. One of Treys gifts is preaching and we look forward to he and his wife Johnna and family joining our full time associate team in June of 2023.

This Thanksgiving Day, we all want to be thankful most of all for Jesus and his sacrifice for our sins. He is the reason and purpose for all we do as associates and volunteers with I-TEC.

We are also thankful for your prayers as we served as a team in Uganda at the Restoration Gateway ministry property. The RG team is dedicated to meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the people of Uganda. Thanks from all of us at I-TEC.
