Travel Day Challenges

Suitcases are packed and we are ready to head to the airport to begin our journey, but...

LATE last night United Airlines decided to cancel our flight from Harrisburg to Newark, to our connecting flights to Entebbe.  We had to brainstorm what action could be taken.  The airline offers to fly from various other airports to make up for the loss, but in the end we decided that it may be best to just drive to Newark,  It is about a 2-1/2 hour drive under normal conditions, so we decided to use our church van and have a driver bring it back from Newark later today.  We plan to meet around noon at Friends In Action in Middletown and drive to Newark from there.  The reason for this is that Trey is flying from Tulsa to Denver to Newark and his flights are all listed as "on-time".  So we will do the check in for our flights at Newark instead of Harrisburg.  Our flight to Brussels leaves Newark around 7PM this evening.

This is not the only glitch in this trip.  Our flight on Tuesday was already canceled by the airline due to the national strike in Belgium, so we rebook to today.  Several of our unvaccinated travelers had to get on-line Covid tests to qualify for the stopover in Kigali, Rwanda.  According to the airline website, just stopping in Kigali requires a negative Covid result even if you don't get off the plane, which we will not be allowed to do.  Another issue is that my Visa application for Uganda is in limbo and I am taking along all of the corresponding paperwork in hope that a Visa can be procured in Entebbe.  I have been to Uganda at least three times before and have never had a problem, but would appreciate your prayers about this one.

That's all for now.  I will hopefully post a team photo when we meet up in Newark later this evening.  We do arrive in Entebbe Saturday night, not Sunday as I had said previously, which should be around 4PM EST Saturday.  Of course, this is all dependent on the airlines and our Lord who is in absolute control of all that happens.  Pray that the satanic opposition we have experienced so far will not continue.
